Life
His mother is unknown.[1] According to others, he was son of Bülbül Hatun.[2] He was born in 1476,[3] and was governor of Saruhan and Kastamonu.[4] Mahmud died in 1507 and was buried in Şehzade Mahmud Mosque built by his mother. Some claim he was executed.[5]

Şehzade Mahmud had five children:

They were all executed by orders of Selim I in 1512.
Daughters:
- Ayşe Hundî Sultan; born in 1493, married in 1508 to Serulûfeciyân Ferruh Bey, with whom she had daughter Mihrihan Hanim-Sultan. She was still alive in 1556[9]
- Zeynep Fatma Sultân
