The Medicine Label
The Medicine Label (sometimes called Medicine for short) was a record label founded in New York City in 1992, originally as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records and Giant Records. The original purpose of the label was to release "new, cutting-edge music", as Irving Azoff (the president of Giant) put it.[1] In the fall of 1995, the label split from its relationship with Giant due to a restructuring Giant had recently undergone, which limited the number of albums they could afford to release through Medicine. The label's founder, Kevin Patrick, subsequently reached a deal with Giant allowing him to continue to run Medicine as an independent label, whose music would be distributed by RED Distribution.[2][3]
