Darwin's ringed worm lizard

Darwin's ringed worm lizard (Amphisbaena darwinii) is a species of reptile in the family Amphisbaenidae. The species is endemic to South America.

Etymology

The specific name, darwinii, is in honor of English naturalist Charles Darwin.[1]

Geographic range

A. darwinii is found in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay.[2]

Description

A. darwinii may attain a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 36 cm (14 in).[3]

Reproduction

A. darwinii is oviparous.[2]
