Cal Poly was a two-year school until 1941, and competed in the California Coast Conference (CCC). The team was led by third-year head coach Al Agosti and played home games in San Luis Obispo, California. They finished the season with a record of three wins and three losses (3–3, 2–1 CCC). Overall, the Mustangs were outscored by their opponents 48–103 for the season.
