AEK Athens F.C. competed for the 30th consecutive season in the Greek top flight and 65th year in existence as a football club. They competed in the Alpha Ethniki, the Greek Cup and the UEFA Cup. The season begun at 21 August 1988 and finished at 21 May 1989.
