2021 Summer Deaflympics

Caxis do Sul was selected as the host city for the 2021 Games a meeting of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf on February 26, 2020. Originally scheduled to take place from December 5 to 21, 2021 during the late spring and early summer at the host city, the Games were postponed to May 2022 in January 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first such instance in the history of the Deaflympics (previous games had been cancelled but not rescheduled).[2][3]

Originally, the program for this edition would consist of 221 finals in 18 sports. However, due to problems with the available infrastructure and the low number of participants, bowling had to be removed from the program.Thus, the program will consist of 209 events in 17 sports.New events are added on athletics,karate,orienteering,shooting and swimming while the number of events in judo and taekwondo has been reduced.This will also be the first time since the 2001 Summer Deaflympics that a women's handball tournament will be held. The number in each yellow box represents the number of finals that are contested on that day.[7] This schedule doesn´t includes the bowling events.

Belarusian and Russian will not compete at the event after a ban as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
