 - sound /u/ is written u, not o
 - sound /œ/ is written ö, not oeu
 - long vowels are written with the circumflex accent
 - the other accents, on tonic syllables, are always used
 - final voiced consonants are written as voiceless (like they actually are in pronunciation), except ambiguities
