Datuna Church
Datuna Church (Georgian: დათუნას ეკლესია; Russian: Церковь Датуна) - is a medieval Georgian Orthodox church in modern Dagestan, Shamilsky District, in the Russian Federation. Originally founded by the Georgian missionaries in the late 10th, early 11th century.[1] It is a small basilica constructed in village of Datuna.[2] Datuna represents a proof of close ties of the Georgian-Dagestani relations that emerged as early as the 6th century.[3] The church is designated as a landmark for the Russian cultural heritage register of federal importance.[4]
