She previously served as a member of Fingal County Council from 2019 to 2020.[3]
Currie was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2020 general election as the Fine Gael running mate of outgoing Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Dublin West.[4][5]
Her father, Austin Currie, was a founding member of the SDLP, former Minister of State, and Teachta Dála (TD).[6]
On 24 October 2020, Currie was one of four Fine Gael senators (along with Tim Lombard, Jerry Buttimer and Garret Ahearn) reported to have begun self-isolating after two tested positive for COVID-19.[7][8] Currie later confirmed she was one of the two, her symptoms beginning with a cough, and that she had contacted Leinster House, leading to the other three having to isolate.[9]
