Farap, also known as Farab,[4] or Firabr,[5] is a city and capital of Farap District, Lebap Region, Turkmenistan.

Etymology
The name is of obscure origin and meaning. Vambery considered it a corruption of a Persian phrase meaning "pure water".[6]
