On July 29, 2021, it was reported that Weigel Broadcasting would purchase KDAO-CD for $195,000, pending approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The sale does not include the KDAO-CD call sign, which will be retained by MTN Broadcasting.[1] The sale was completed on September 28;[2] and the callsign was changed to KDIT-CD on October 19.[3]
Due to its low-power status, the broadcasting radius does not reach all of the Greater Des Moines area. Therefore, KDIT-CD must rely on cable and satellite carriage to reach the entire market.
