Modřice
Modřice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈmodr̝ɪtsɛ]; German: Mödritz) is a town in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 5,400 inhabitants.

Geography
Šlapanice is located 8 kilometres (5 mi) south from Brno. It lies on the border of the Dyje–Svratka Valley and Brno Highlands.
History
Svobody Square
The first written mention of Modřice is from 1141. It became a town in 1994.[2]
Sights
The Church of Saint Gotthard is the landmark of the town. The original Romanesque structure was completely rebuilt in the 1780s. It has preserved Romanesque core, Renaissance portal and late Baroque tower.[3]
