WPLM (AM)

WPLM (1390 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. WPLM broadcasts to the South Shore and Cape Cod areas. The station is owned by Plymouth Rock Broadcasting Co., Inc.[2][3] WPLM is listed as silent since June 7, 2018; it most recently simulcast the adult contemporary format of sister station WPLM-FM (99.1).

On June 14, 2019, WPLM (AM) was granted the approval to resume operations and is back on the air simulcasting sister station WPLM-FM as Easy 99.1.[4]

History

WPLM signed on August 8, 1955, with WPLM-FM being added on June 25, 1961.[5] The two stations simulcast all programming from the FM station's launch[6] until 1997, when the station began leasing out some of its broadcast day to simulcast WADN (1120 AM, now WBNW).[7] On January 15, 2015, WPLM returned to a full simulcast with WPLM-FM.

For much of its history, WPLM was branded as "America's Hometown Station;" its current slogan is relatively recent.
